As summer approaches, many of us love to sit back and revel in the joy of reading. However, considerable amounts of our nations population, especially children, do not have access to books. Decades ago, Margaret McNamara realized the sheer power of giving a child a book and launched Reading is Fundamental. Since 1966, Reading is Fundamental has been distributing free books and literary resources to the children and families who need them most. The organization motivates young children to be lifelong readers by giving them the ability to choose their own books and offers different learning programs for children to discover the wonder and joys of reading everyday. Reading is Fundamental hopes to ultimately inspire them to achieve their dreams and true potential.
